Yan is a great professional and at the same time an incredibly easygoing guy. He’ll pick you up at your hotel and take you back afterwards, and you’ll get a delicious lunch.
During the OWD course, he was calm and very patient, and he was able to perfectly explain why some of the exercises didn’t go well for me on the first try. Diving with him is an amazing experience — you feel complete trust and safety in the water.
And by the way, he has an amazing tattoo 🙂

His dream is to plant more corals on the seabed in Amed and preserve the vibrant marine life for future generations, which is wonderful.

Yan and the team at Diving Scuba Odyssey Amed are simply amazing. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warm smiles and genuine hospitality. Yan is super friendly and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect.

Our dive guide, Madee, was not only professional but incredibly knowledgeable about the dive sites and the local marine life. He took the time to explain everything clearly and made us feel completely safe and confident throughout the dives. You can tell he has a real passion for the ocean and the region.

What really stood out were the little touches—free snacks, drinks, and even food—that made the day feel extra special and relaxed. The vibe at the shop is chill, well-organized, and really welcoming.

We had a great experience diving with Yan. He is a well experienced and reliable local dive master. He arranged for another diving instructor to dive with our daughter who is 11 and has a junior open water and can only dive 12m. We had fun as a family.

His shop has only recently been built and is new and nice. His equipments are also new (my wet suit being worn for the first time!) Highly recommended if you want to dive local around Amed and Tulamben. 😊👍

Wow wow wow! What an incredible experience! Yan was a brilliant instructor from start to finish 🌟 This was our first time scuba diving and I got quite panicked when first going into the water and wasn't sure if I would be able to continue... but Yan was so patient, calm and understanding and helped me get through not just one, but two dives! He was constantly checking that we were okay and even let my husband and I swim about holding hands as he knew I was nervous 😂🥰 He is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the ocean and is a local to Amed so knows the area very well. He explained the equipment and safety instructions very clearly and was constantly helping us when our ears were hurting from the pressure. So grateful to Yan for this experience and would recommend to anyone wanting to try scuba diving around this area! Terimakasih (Thank you!) 🙏🏻

Yan Yan the scuba man! What an amazing experience. My husband and I have just completed our three day open water dive course with Yan and it was epic. Yan is an incredible instructor, he is so calm and patient, especially with me as I have a huge fear of deep water (stupid I know) he helped me overcome this fear and after we completed our course we carried on and done a fun dive at the liberty wreck which was incredible. I highly recommend Yan to anyone who wants to dive, first time or experienced, he’s amazing.

Yan was fantastic! He organised pick up and drop off to the airport and then took me to Liberty Wreck dive which we did twice (1 for each side). The wreck site was one of the best dives I’ve ever done, Yan took some amazing photos and videos for me to remember it. Yan is very welcoming, he invited me to his home with his family and cooked us dinner for a friends birthday. 10/10 experience and can’t wait to come back - you come as a stranger but leave as family 👌

This was our second time diving with Yan and Scuba Odyssey Amed. We first dove with him two years ago, and we came back because we knew we'd be in great hands—and he didn't disappoint!
This trip was even more special because our son completed his Advanced Open Water certification with Yan.
We had an amazing time diving in Amed and Nusa Penida. Everything was safe, professional, and fun, and Yan is not only a fantastic dive guide but also someone we're happy to now call a friend. 😍
Seeing the manta rays was incredible, and we were lucky enough to spot the first Mola Mola of the season, which was an unforgettable bonus! We can't recommend Scuba Odyssey Amed enough and will definitely be back.

I had the most incredible diving experience with Diving Scuba Odyssey in Amed—truly something I’ll never forget. From the moment we arrived, Yan Biedoeh and his amazing team made us feel completely at ease with their professionalism, warmth, and genuine passion for what they do.

The dive itself at the USAT Liberty shipwreck was absolutely stunning. Exploring such an iconic site, surrounded by vibrant marine life—including green sea turtles, sharks, and crystal-clear waters—was already a dream, but the team made it even more special with their expert guidance and attention to detail, both big and small. You can really tell they care deeply about giving each diver the best possible experience.

What made the day even more memorable was what came after. Yan’s wife prepared the most delicious home-cooked meal for us—it was the perfect way to relax and reflect after an unforgettable dive. That personal touch meant so much and really shows how much heart this family-run operation puts into everything they do. Just a few metres away from their home, you’ll find a reef worthy of a snorkel tour, where it’s easy to lose track of time—just swim out 200 metres and enter a whole new world.

If you’re thinking about diving in Amed, I couldn’t recommend Diving Scuba Odyssey more highly. Incredible diving, wonderful people, and an experience that feels both professional and deeply personal. I’ll definitely be back!

If you are in or close to Amed this is the place we recommend for diving. Yan is a topnotch instructor. He is thorough in his instructions, patient, kind and always helpful.
You are taken care of in the best way. We love his modest and friendly personality and the way he observes the situations before diving. He knows what he is doing so you feel that safety is the highest priority.
It was a privilege to dive with Yan and his team. They give the best in every way possible. Yan listens to your wishes and gives you the attention and the encouragement you need to feel more confident.

I had my first-ever scuba diving experience with Yan, and it was amazing! He was calm, patient, and always made sure I felt safe and comfortable in the water. We started in his cool office, where we picked out the gear and went through a dry introduction before slowly heading into the water. Yan’s encouraging approach made the whole experience enjoyable and stress-free. I only wish I could stay longer to continue learning scuba diving with him! Highly recommended.

We did refresher and beginner dives with Wayan and Komeng. Our youngest one went snorkeling with us. All was perfect, we were so well taken care of!!! Great explanation, then into the sea, did our exercises and then went on a fun dive. Many pretty fishes.
It was a fantastic morning. Thank you so much!

Yan is the absolute best dive guide in Amed. I always dive with him when I visit Amed. Tell him what you want to see, and he’ll find the perfect timing and logistics to make it happen. My friend also did their AOW course with him, and Yan’s meticulous, confident teaching style completely transformed my friend's confidence underwater. Yan and his crew take care of every single detail so you can just enjoy the dive. Exceptional service—highly recommend

My husband and I dove two days with Yan and his Scuba Odessey team. Our dives were great! First dive day was the wreck dive, on the USS Liberty. So big! My very first wreck too. Yan was attentive and very helpful as we are in our mid/60’s and not as agile as we used to be. He even brought me the BC into the water to put on as I have lower back issues. (All are shore dives btw) Second dive day was the Jemeluk Bay/Wall dives. We saw so many fish, including large seahorses. Yan had three groups that day, yet we all felt very cared for… no small feat. The lunch his wife makes for us afterwards is EXCELLENT!
The only downside may be that the drive on the first day is a bit bumpy (road conditions) and shore diving can be tough if rocky & large waves but neither of these are Yan’s fault and did not deter us in the least. We would gladly dive with this outfit again in the future. Yan was recommended to us by a very seasoned divemaster and we appreciated this guidance. Thanks Yan & team Scuba Odessey!

We found Yan from Scuba Odessey through a recommendation from a mutual friend and we couldn’t have been happier. From the first moment of contact to make our reservation until the very last minute of our trip, everything was so well taken care of. We spent 4 days diving with Yan but he also arranged our taxi from and to the airport and our hotel. Yan is an amazing dive guide, he finds all the little critters and knows all the best diving spots. We also did boat dives with the local fisherman’s boat (so cool!) and a night dive. Yan always made sure we were well taken care of with snacks, water and his lovely wife Ketut cooked us the most delicious lunches. Transportation to divesites is by car, or as Yan calls it: bali lamborghini. The rental gear looks well maintained, we brought our own gear and it was well looked after and thoroughly cleaned after every dive day. The shop is neat and tidy and has all you need; rinse tanks, shower, kitchen, teaching space. Cannot recommend enough: go dive with Yan at Scuba Odessey!

We went during the off season and it was wonderful to have the one on one guidence while getting the open water diving certification. I'm so happy that we chose Scuba Odyssey and got to be taught by Wayan! He is incredibly helpful and patient. Our stay in Amed wouldn't be the same without an amazing local like Wayan facilitatitng our experience diving and teaching us about the area. He even helped us connect to some friends of his around the island and greater Indonesia when we dive in other areas. 11/10!!! I really appreciate him, his care, and how respected his is everywhere we went around Amed!

Diving with Scuba Odessey was such a great experience in Amed! Wayan was an excellent teacher and guide above and below the water. He made the adventures authentic, safe, and so enjoyable. If you are looking for a genuine, fun, and affordable option I highly suggest choosing them!
